When visiting Reykjavík you have to visit Hallgrimskirkja church during the evenings, as they usually have an incredible light show performance that are simply too fascinating and colourful to miss!
The lightshow runs through a series of different video clips and effects with eerie soundtracks.
The duration of the shows are approximately 5 minutes and then will repeat several times. That should give you guys plenty of time to experience the show and get your selfies in.
Please check in advance the dates of the light shows before travelling to avoid missing it.
Hallgrimskirkja Church is one of Iceland’s most tallest and iconic landmarks. The church stands at 74.5meters (244ft) making it the tallest building in the capital city Reykjavík.
If you are visiting during the day you can explore inside the church free of charge and for a small fee (Adults: ISK 1000 – £6.40/$8.25/€7.30 approx)(children: ISK 100) you are also able to go up to the 8th floor of the tower where you will get astounding 360° views of the whole city.

Winter (October – April): 09:00 – 17:00. Tower closes 16:30.
Summer (May – September): 09:00 – 21:00. Tower closes 20:30.
The tower is closed on Sundays from 10:30 – 12:15 during mass at 11:00.
Hallgrímskirkja is an active, working church and sometimes we may close the church without notice, especially due to weddings or funerals.
Hallgrimskirkja is certainly worth a visit when travelling to Reykjavík. Night or day, you won’t be disappointed, especially for taking those Instagram worthy pictures.
